The right Mono printer for my business

In order to help you find the right equipment for your workplace, here is a description of 3 printer series:

  • HOME OFFICE: For personal use this compact and elegant series will be best suited for printing office documents in black and white, at home or at work.
  • Microbusiness and SMB/SME: dedicated to small and medium workgroups, these machines combine performance, versatility and quality for optimal results when printing your documents. The added bonus of the multipurpose tray will significantly ease your printing by allowing you to either switch to a higher quality media, which will go up to 230 gsm or to switch to a smaller envelope or label format.
  • Enterprise-level businesses: perfectly suited for large workgroups, this professional range of secure and highly efficient printers will provide you with total control over printing costs. Furthermore depending on the model, you will be able to enjoy and make full use of a high capacity automatic document feeder, with full duplex (print, copy, and scan), optional trays and very high yield toners.

During the presentation of a wide array of models with a description of many specifications, certain key terms might have sounded a bit complicated or quite frankly alien. You will find here a glossary of terms that will help you untangle all the confusing technical vocabulary. The author hopes that you will have found this read to be interesting and useful. An upcoming review of the very latest Brother Laser Colour Printer range should be coming soon.

GLOSSARY OF TERMS:

  • NFC Technology:Permits you to print or digitise within a short range of your printer (10 cm max) with a smartphone (that will need to be NFC-enabled).
  • The difference between Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi direct: Wi-Fi direct allows you to pass information between two devices directly with no need for a modem or router as a go between. That is to say that unless you actually want a password for added security, it will not be required to print documents, unlike with plain Wi-Fi, which will always require a password to do so.
  • GDI emulation versus PCL6 – PostScript 3 emulation: This printing language allows your printer to directly decode characters in your documents, which will make your print job workflow more fluid and swift, thanks to the intelligence of your machine. If you are using a vertical market software  which is a niche software for a specific industry, models that have integrated PCL6 and PostScript should be given precedence as they will be eminently more compatible.
  • PC/FAX:allows you to send and receive a fax directly from your PC (via an email address). This function permits you to optimise and manage flows of incoming and outbound faxes.
  • Single-pass digitisation:a double camera allows for the duplex digitising in one go of a 2-sided document via a document feeder.
